NETL Key Lab Initiatives
A design system laid out for developers to build several pages and remain on brand.
I designed this set of landing pages for the National Energy Technology Laboratory's Key Lab (NETL) Initiatives — the areas where the lab was concentrating its R&D growth. I started with the hub page that framed all four initiatives followed by a dedicated page for each center. The brief across all of them was to make highly technical work accessible to industry partners. Each page pulled from a similar design template — a full-bleed hero carrying the center's mark, a three-column explainer, a “Why Partner with NETL” section, capability and experience cards, an expandable list of focus areas, and headshots of the researchers behind the work.
The system is built using NETL’s charcoal with a white base, a circuit-trace and dot-grid patterning as connective texture and NETL's primary green as the accent that carries the eye down every page. The result reads as one family, so a visitor moving between centers always knows they're still inside NETL. These initial pages set the design moving forward letting in-house developers continue iterating on these pages for future additions.
